Tailored FM approach for National Archives estate
Custom programme designed for small workforce needs
50 Degrees partnered with a long term workplace and facilities partner to develop a facilities management proposition for the National Archives estate. The commissioner placed significant emphasis on social value, prioritising carbon reduction, net zero, diversity, and apprenticeships. We worked closely with our client's ESG and apprenticeship teams to create a series of engaging and fully compliant responses that addressed these priorities, ensuring they were reflective of the unique requirements of a sensitive heritage site and its small workforce.
Commissioners required clear, evidence-led commitments to environmental sustainability and social value within FM delivery. Targets included reducing emissions, achieving net zero, and increasing diversity and inclusion. As part of the procurement process, they also expected a tailored apprenticeship solution despite the relatively small contract workforce. Our primary challenge was to design a credible, proportionate response that addressed these priorities while demonstrating innovation, realism, and measurable impact.
50 Degrees worked closely with our client's ESG specialists to translate their wider FM expertise into a tailored strategy aligned to the National Archives’ sustainability goals, including practical commitments on carbon reduction and a clear pathway to net zero. We facilitated workshops with their apprenticeship team to co-design a bespoke model suited to the contract’s workforce scale. Responses were structured into concise, compelling narratives with headline commitments, measurable outcomes, and strong commissioner alignment, ensuring the proposals reflected both ambition and deliverability.
